Asian elephants are important cultural icons within Cambodia, forming strong relationships with the Indigenous communities over many generations. While they are found across Asia, Asian elephants are threatened by habitat loss and fragmentation of wildlife corridors due to the expansion of settlements, agriculture, mining and other industries – also resulting in increased occurrences of human-elephant conflict.
