Beck’s petrel

Beck’s petrel are a species of small seabirds found in Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu. They are nocturnal animals and also feed mostly at night. Little is actually known about these birds and they were thought to be extinct until they were rediscovered in the early 2000s. Small chicks and eggs are often preyed on by pigs, cats and mice. They are also threatened by land clearing which destroys their nesting habitats.
