The great curassow is a large game bird that can grow up to three feet in length. Males are predominantly black with a yellow knob at the base of their bill, while females are usually reddish-brown or black with a striped pattern and no yellow knob on their bill. Due to their size and terrestrial nature, the great curassow is greatly threatened by hunting and are usually only found in protected or very remote areas.
