Jaguar

The largest cat in the Americas, the jaguar is considered a keystone species for their role in keeping prey populations in check. In the recent decades, jaguars have lost more than half of their habitat extent, which is extremely detrimental to the species as they require a large habitat range in order to roam for food. As home to more than one-fifth of the world’s jaguar population, Colombia’s forests provide valuable habitats for the world’s jaguar population.
