One of the largest and most powerful species of eagle, the martial eagle is an opportunistic predator, feeding on a variety of prey from mammals to reptiles and birds. Their wingspan measures an incredible 2.6m which helps them fly at high elevations and speeds. They are native to the open savannas of Sub-Saharan Africa. They are often killed by farmers due to their habit of preying on livestocks. Martial eagles have a very low reproduction rate, producing offspring only once every two years, which further endangers them of becoming extinct.
