Neotropical otter

The neotropical otter has a noticeably long tail, which its Latin name alludes to. A graceful swimmer and diver, the neotropical otter is often found near water. Unlike other otter species, the neotropical otter is known to use caves as shelters. Although the species has a wide distribution, its population size is unknown, and the species is threatened by habitat loss, pollution, mining and poaching.
