Yellow-cheeked gibbon

Endemic to Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, yellow-cheeked gibbons are found high in the canopy of lowland and evergreen forest trees. Their coats change throughout their lifetime – their pale infant coats eventually turning into deep gold for females and black for males as they mature. These charismatic gibbons are at risk from poaching for the exotic pet industry, traditional medicine and “luxury” meat.
